What Businesses Need to Leverage Today’s Transformative Technology

By now everyone has heard of the cloud. Most businesses even understand how they can use it effectively. But what about other advances?

With 5G, LTE and other wireless networks rolling out plus more IoT advances being made nearly daily, businesses will need the power to pull it all together. Simply relying on the cloud won’t be enough for companies who truly want to leverage big data going forward, noted Dustin Seetoo, Premio’s Director of Product Marketing.

“The edge computing is really about the ability to offer the necessary compute power resources and enough connectivity for real-time processing and decision-making for full autonomy. A great example of this that we work with a lot of partners on in terms of hardware scale and what they’re looking for is a lot of robotics,” Seetoo said. “Robotics in this day and age, how you look at edge computing requires sub-millisecond processing. So, a robotic arm on a factory line needs to be able to recognize in a millisecond that this object is whatever it is, then move it to a different object.”

Robotics is hardly the only industry being transformed by the use of rugged edge computing.

Digital transformations also are taking place in the autonomous vehicle space, especially in commercial fleets, and Premio even has a client utilizing the quick-response computing power in surface and underground mining equipment. That goes to show how widespread the implementation can be, and Premio works across a wide swath of product families to make sure companies are getting intelligence and understanding how to use it.

“We’re starting to see this convergence of all this transformative technology,” Seetoo said.

Learning how to make the rugged edge work for you can be key to making sure your business is on the cutting edge of the next technology revolution.

Physical Retail’s Next Infrastructure Layer: Item-Level Intelligence with Radar
June 4, 2026

Physical retail is under pressure to become as measurable and responsive as e-commerce. While retailers have spent years optimizing digital channels with real-time data, store teams have often had to make decisions with incomplete inventory visibility and delayed operational signals. That gap matters because stores still account for 80% of U.S. retail sales, making…

From Institutional Excellence to Population-Level Access: How Pakistan Can Bridge Its Healthcare Divide
June 1, 2026

Healthcare systems are under pressure almost everywhere, but the strain is especially visible in lower-resource settings where demand is rising faster than infrastructure. In Pakistan, that pressure is playing out across a system that has to serve more than 250 million people with limited public investment. Public health spending remains below 1% of GDP,…

Scaling Experiential Learning in the Curriculum: How Iron Range Engineering Transformed Engineering Education
June 1, 2026

Engineering has transformed nearly every part of modern life, from the phones in our pockets to the systems powering global industry. But the way engineers are educated has often moved far more slowly than the profession itself. Employers are asking for graduates who can navigate ambiguity, communicate across teams, and contribute meaningfully from the…

When Geography Meets Purpose: How One Move Reshaped a Vascular Surgeon’s Career
May 28, 2026

Medicine isn’t what it used to be—not for the people practicing it. Independent physicians are becoming the exception, not the norm, as more doctors move into hospital systems, corporate groups, and academic networks. At the same time, the pipeline of specialists isn’t keeping pace with growing patient needs, particularly in complex fields like vascular…
